People & Culture Manager (24 Hours per Week - Amsterdam Based)
- Hybrid
- Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
- People, Culture, HR
Job description
Do you thrive in an international scale-up environment and enjoy building structure while keeping people at the center? Are you excited by creating smart HR processes, supporting growth, and helping shape a strong organisation? If so, you could be our next People & Culture Manager.
GBM Works’ Story:
While working as an intern for an offshore contractor building offshore wind farms, a young engineer discovered that installation methods were far from sustainable. Despite the goal of clean energy, marine life continued to suffer due to outdated and noisy installation techniques. Determined to change this, he set out to design a better solution. This is how GBM Works was founded ten years ago, with the ambition to fundamentally improve offshore foundation installation.
Today, we’re advancing our Vibrojet® tool for the next generation of XXL monopiles in offshore wind energy. Our patented technology enables silent installation, reducing harm to marine life while addressing key industry challenges such as delays, fatigue damage, and scalability issues.
What Would You Do?
We’re growing fast, and we’re at an exciting stage in building and professionalising our organisation. As our People & Culture Manager, you’ll play a central role in supporting our people and shaping how HR evolves within GBM Works.
You’ll be responsible for creating structure, improving processes, and ensuring that our people and HR activities support both the growth of the company and the well-being of our employees. From recruitment and HR operations to improving systems and supporting our impact initiatives, you’ll help build a scalable people function that grows with the organisation.
There is plenty of room for initiative, ownership and creativity. We’re looking for someone who enjoys improving the way things work, embraces technology and data and is eager to create practical and people-focused solutions.
Your Role Will Include:
• Managing recruitment and talent acquisition activities, from sourcing candidates to creating a strong candidate experience
• Supporting hiring managers and advising on recruitment strategies and salary benchmarks
• Managing HR administration including contracts, onboarding, offboarding and personnel records
• Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and HR policies
• Monitoring employee well-being and supporting initiatives that strengthen engagement and culture
• Designing and improving scalable HR processes and workflows
• Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency through HR systems, tools and automation
• Supporting HR reporting and tracking key people metrics
• Contributing to impact strategy initiatives and building reporting structures
• Taking ownership of reviewing, updating and improving our SharePoint environment and structure
• Continuously improving ways of working and supporting organisational growth
About You:
• Experience in HR, Operations, or people management roles
• Strong understanding of HR processes and administration
• Familiarity with employment legislation and HR best practices
• Comfortable working with HR systems, tools and data
• Strong organisational skills and immaculate attention to detail
• Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment
• Proactive, hands-on and eager to take ownership
• A “get-things-done” mindset - you look for solutions rather than obstacles
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Dutch is a plus)
• Curious about scale-ups and comfortable in a dynamic environment
• A self-starter who enjoys learning and improving processes
• Experience within the offshore industry is a strong plus; an existing professional network within the sector is highly valued
• Located within commuting distance of our Amsterdam office and able to work onsite three days per week
Workplace
Our office is located at the Energy Transition Campus Amsterdam (ETCA) in Amsterdam North, just a 10-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station.
ETCA offers excellent facilities including onsite parking, a gym, a restaurant, and a high-quality coffee bar.
